24- The Past Revealed

Japanese Title: The Past Revealed: Heartless! Gizumon:AT

Sahgo’s Notes: AND YET ANOTHER ACCURATE TITLE!! Yay! \o\ *Yeah, I’m over-reacting. So what?*

Another good episode. Nothing to add, except the whole ‘destroy’ thing. There is too much ”destruction”. It’s like I’m watching 4Kids’ Shaman King.

Although it was cut some episodes ago, the scene of the humans killing digimon was retained in a flashback.

Merukimon: “And he’s the one who’s responsible for deleting Frigimon’s data and destroying her!”

That’s a pretty complicated way to say “who killed her”.

The “Olympus Twelve” was retained. And here was I, thinking it would be changed to “Digi-Twelve” or something.

The kana saying who-is-who in the Digital World Exploration Squad was romanized. But by “romanized” I don’t actually mean “translated”:
Suguru Daimon -> Spencer Damon.
Rentarou Satsuma -> Richard Sampson.
Hiroshi Yushima -> Homer Yushima

(3 seconds) Basically, Kuraya pointing his gun on a digimon.

GUN!!!

(2 seconds) Kuraya shoots. Once.

Bang!

The gun is actually mentioned in the dub (twice), but isn’t shown at all.

(almost 1 second) A shot of Suguru’s fist hitting SaberLeomon’s eye. In the dub it was covered with a… oh crap, why do I keep saying the obvious? Oh well… yes, you guessed, it was covered with a slash-impact-screen.

OW! My eye! Why would you do that?!

In the original, Mercurimon said a bunch of times that Yggdrasil was the God of the Digital World. In the dub, Yggdrasil’s name was changed to King Drasil. Dunno why. In the dub the word “God” is never used, but the main concept is still there, so…

(5 seconds) Some scenes of the humans shooting fire. Other scenes were retained but these are particularly evil for some reason.

(3 seconds) This scene of a tree burning was cut but… wait a sec… WHAT THE HELL?! Remember when the dub replaced those scenes of the humans with weapons for other scenes? THIS ONE WAS ONE OF THEM!! Why is it cut now?! I… I’m confused @_@

Maybe the nature people argued with the dubbers? Or something.

Oh, for the love of Yggdrasil. Here we go with the crazy SFX changed again. Well, let’s review, shall we?
In Digimon Tamers, they replaced Belzebumon’s bullets SFX for laser SFX. That laser sound was horrible and sounded like out of a Nintendo 64 game.
In Digimon Savers, they replaced RizeGreymon’s bullets SFX for more laser SFX, now sounding worse, like it’s from a Super Nintendo game.
And NOW, they YET AGAIN replace the FIRE SFX (can’t hear fire?! YOU CAN’T HEAR FIRE BUT YOU CAN SEE IT?! WHAT IS THE POINT OF THESE EDITS, SOMEBODY TELL ME?!) for MORE LASER SFX, and this time is the worse sound of all, it sounds like it’s from an Atari game! Really, it’s horrible!!
And let me tell you more: IN THE FIRST FEW SCENES, YOU CAN STILL HEAR THE FIRE SFX!!! SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!!!! X_X

(1 second) Revolmon shooting at the sky to… you know… call for attention.

Another bang.

(3 seconds) Revolmon point his guns at them. Whoo.

Stop or die!

Wow, a digital edit that is not EKEE. Now that is a surprise.
Originally, Gizmon’s laser transpassed Yukidarumon, but in the dub it just hit Frigimon’s back and did this… black… thing… in her chest. Weird. Also, maybe it’s a color problem from my videos, but it seems that Yukidarumon’s “button” was recolored in the dub.

Digital change!

Uh, just in case you are wondering, Kurata’s lollipop is really a lollipop ^^; It wasn’t a cigarette originally (it seems that 4Kids’ One Piece left everybody traumatized, huh?)

And… Gizumon’s name retained. You know.

Total episode retained: 98%.
